SystemRescueCd предназначен для восстановления данных после краха системы. Эта система, основанная на Linux Live CD, выполнена на загрузочном диске и включает множество функций администрирования. С ее помощью можно создавать и редактировать разделы на жестком диске, запускать системные утилиты и т.д. Ядро дистрибутива поддерживает наиболее важные файловые системы: ext3/ext4, xfs, btrfs, reiserfs, jfs, vfat, ntfs, а также сетевые Samba и NFS.SystemRescueCd is a Linux system rescue disk available as a bootable CD-ROM or USB stick for administrating or repairing your system and data after a crash. It aims to provide an easy way to carry out admin tasks on your computer, such as creating and editing the hard disk partitions. It comes with a lot of Linux system utilities such as GParted, fsarchiver, filesystem tools and basic tools (editors, midnight commander, network tools). It can be used for both Linux and windows computers, and on desktops as well as servers. This rescue system requires no installation as it can be booted from a CD/DVD drive or USB stick, but it can be installed on the hard disk if you wish. The kernel supports all important file systems (ext3/ext4, xfs, btrfs, reiserfs, jfs, vfat, ntfs), as well as network filesystems such as Samba and NFS.

SystemRescueCD 0.3.4По-сути, SRC, это проект ориентированный прежде всего на работу с различными файловыми системами (перемещение, изменение размеров, backup данных, backup состояния разделов и проч. особенно интересно наличие ntfs-3g драйвера "из коробки"). Помимо этого в составе дистрибутива присутствуют программы для анализа сетевого трафика, работы с FTP и WWW (dillo и firefox).
Стоит отметить что дистрибутив не предназначен для старых машин -- он собран для компьютеров поддерживающих архитектуру i686 и выше. Обладателям более старых машин просят воспользоваться другими проектами, например DSL.

* Дисковые утилиты (parted, fdisk, partimage, dd-rescue)
* Утилиты для файловых систем (ext3, reiserfs, ntfs-3g, zfs, ...)
* Сетевые утилиты (samba, nfs, ssh, lftp, rdesktop, vnc)
* Firefox и Midnight Commander
Из приятного еще хочется отметить наличие firmware для ipw2200 "из коробки"

SystemRescueCd 1.2.0SystemRescueCd 1.2.0 has just been released. It's a major release and it comes with a new kernel version, new desktop environment, and update for important packages. First, the graphical environment has been updated. It's now based on X.Org Server 1.5.3, which improves the hardware support and comes with new drivers. The desktop environment is now Xfce, because it's both very good (very comfortable, many settings) and very small. Parts of Xfce which are not essential and which have many dependencies have not been included. The kernel has been updated to version 2.6.29; it comes with more drivers and it also supports the very promising Btrfs file system (still under heavy development). GParted has been updated to 0.4.5.

На этапе загрузки появилась возможность выбора раскладки клавиатуры (например, необходимо ввести "ru" в приглашении isolinux).
