Дистрибутив Elive основан на Debian. В настоящее время Elive достиг версии 0.1, но активно тестируется и дорабатывается бета версия под номером 0.2. В основе системы будет находиться очень быстрый и красивый оконный менеджер Enlightenment.

В ELive также предусмотрена возможность установки на жесткий диск. По заявлениям разработчиков, данная версия будет работать даже на компьютере с частотой процессора 120 МГц и 64Мб оперативной памяти.

This release includes: Bluetooth - if a Bluetooth device is detected on your computer during the boot process, you will 'automagically' have a Bluetooth applet in your tray; notifications on the desktop - messages about miscellaneous events, e.g. Bluetooth PIN codes; X.Org - touchpad is re-enabled again, configurator of the graphical mode scans hard disk for possible configurations to use; ATI - some bugs were found with the fglrx driver in Elive, it should work now, but we still need your reports if something does not work correctly.

The Elive Team is proud to announce the release of development version 1.7.10. This release includes: Prism2: better prism2* wireless cards support. Flash: Macromedia Flash small update. Xorg: Xorg updates + a lot of fixes in Elive configurations of Xorg, some for Nvidia. e17: Some e17 gadgets configured on the fly. So for instance, if your computer supports cpufreq, that gadget is added automatically. Same with battery. If your computer does NOT support these features, the gadgets will not be added . The improvement of Elive for the next stable release is proceeding smoothly, also profiting from the upcoming release of Debian. The Elive team is proud to announce the release of the development version 1.9.10. This version doesn't include Exalt (a network configuration tool) any more, but there is a new application in Elpanel. Ibar is replaced by Itask-ng - Elive now has a zooming bar similar to the one in Mac OS X. It also has another feature enabled by default - 'lock icons', which prevents the user from removing icons accidentally. Vim color scheme hacks - the default color theme of Elive has been hacked for better development and coding. PDF printer - it is now possible to create PDFs from a page, document, or anything just by selecting to print to a PDF file in the printer menu. Networks - this version includes a new application called net-connector for configuring WiFi and wired connections.

The Elive team is proud to announce the release of Elive development version 1.9.15. This version includes better support for MacBooks and a much better network configuration tool. MacBooks - the MacBook support has been overhauled, fixing some bugs like the installation and the webcam support. Wireless and networking - our new application to configure networks called Net-Connector is in a pretty good shape. All the known bugs are fixed and the auto-connect mode seems to be working properly. Since there are no known remaining bugs on it, we invite you to find new ones.

The Elive team is proud to announce the release of the development version 1.9.18. This version includes a greatly improved new kernel and a lot of upgraded packages. Changes: Network Configurator is now perfectly usable and stable; Firefox bookmarks have been updated with new entries - a good list of GIMP links and tutorials, a big list of articles about Elive since its first version, and also some about EFL development; Linux kernel updated to version 2.6.26.8; all the currently available wireless drivers have been added, including the newest ath9k for Atheros cards; the bug about the WEP encryption in MacBooks has been finally solved using the new ath9k driver included on this kernel.
